Liturgical Formation LLC

The goal of liturgical formation “is our conformation to Christ.” While we are formed by our participation in the Liturgy, formation for the liturgy is necessary to be formed by the liturgy.  The Church expressly states Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion “should receive sufficient spiritual, theological, and practical preparation to fulfill their role with knowledge and reverence.”  Lectors should have spiritual, biblical, liturgical, and technical preparation.  However, theological, spiritual, and liturgical formation is important for all liturgical ministers.

Liturgical Formation LLC will provide theological, spiritual, and liturgical formation for Catholic liturgical ministers.  Technical formation will mostly be limited to lectors – defined by the General Introduction to the Lectionary as “mak[ing] the readers more skilled in the art of reading publicly, either with the power of their own voice or with the help of sound equipment.”  It will generally not focus on practical (i.e. “nuts and bolts”) training because this differs in each parish based on the church layout, the options available, and the preferences of the pastor and appropriate parish staff.

The primary delivery method for this formation will be online courses with short modules.  Liturgical Formation LLC will grant enrollment in all online courses for current, new, and potential liturgical ministers and all staff and interested registered parishioners as well as any updates to those courses.
